Programming and EYLF

The Joey’s Cottage preschool environment consists of learning areas that promote children’s being, belonging and becoming as outlined in the early years learning framework (EYLF).

This framework ensures that children in early childhood education experience quality teaching and learning and it has a specific emphasis on play-based learning that recognises the importance of communication and language (including early literacy and numeracy) and social/emotional development. This framework supports the goals for young children to become successful learners, confident and creative individuals, active and informed citizens.

The framework conveys the highest expectations for all children’s learning and communicates these expectations through the following five learning outcomes:

Learning Outcome 1- Children have a strong sense of identity.

Learning Outcome 2- Children are connected to and contribute to their world.

Learning Outcome 3- Children have a strong sense of wellbeing.

Learning Outcome 4- Children are confident and involved learners.

Learning Outcome 5- Children are effective communicators.

Joey's Cottage Programming and EYLFThe diversity in family life means that children experience belonging, being and becoming in many different ways. They bring their diverse experiences, perspectives, expectations, knowledge and skills to their learning.

Children’s learning is dynamic, complex and holistic. Physical, social, emotional, personal, spiritual, cognitive, creative and linguistic aspects of learning are all intricately interwoven and interrelated.
